Songwriting & Sarah Avalia
So I didn't make it onto the X Factor but that wasn't going to stop me from going after my dream! I created a YouTube channel and started filming covers, which weren't anything special but I gave it ago.
I didn't start writing songs until my singing teacher at the time inspired me to do so, she was working on her own music and writing her own songs and I just thought "wow that's so cool! if she can do that, why can't I?"
She really encourage me to write and shared some tips about what books she was reading etc and I really learned a lot from her.
Again with "Everything happens for a reason" before finding my vocal coach, I had emailed a few different teachers and they either didn't reply or couldn't help me but eventually I found someone, which led me to writing songs and she introduced me to another coach to expand on my technique further. Now this coach defiantly took me to the next level, I ended up working with her for just over 2 years and she also encouraged me with my song writing and introduced me to 2 music producers who I'm currently working with.
From just meeting one person turned into a ripple effect that had helped shaped my journey.
Now writing my own songs at the very beginning was so hard! I had no idea where to start or what to write about, but eventually lyrics started flowing and once I had finished a song this sense of accomplishment came over me and I just couldn't stop. I wrote so many lyrics trying to find a song I thought was good enough to actually fully turn into a song with music, it took me a couple of years before I decided I was going to release my own Ep Album.
I wrote 5 songs had them all produced and recorded and released in 2016, only to realise that after a year I wasn't in love with the album anymore.
I had changed and grown as an artist and felt like the album didn't fully represent me. That album has now become a trail album for me which has been a great learning experience and now I know exactly what I want my sound to be. I also made the decision to change my name to Sarah Avalia.
I decided on the name Sarah Avalia just before collaborating with Dj High Roller on a D&B track called “Alive”, which was the first song released under my new artist name. Since then I have been performing at local fairs and shows and recording brand new music to be released this year!
So that’s my journey so far, it’s been a long ride trying to get to where I am today but this is only the beginning. I am so excited for what this year will bring and to release new original music, I can’t wait!
Thanks so much for reading my blog! :)
